banshee-e asked: I find myself in agreement with the anon below. My boyfriend and I call each other "gay" when we're being too sappy. I'd never use the word as a means to insult someone though. I actually ran it by one of my lesbian friends to get her opinion, she didn't really care. To each their own though.
I’m not going to tell you what you should or shouldn’t say, but I think it’s important to consider the links between homophobia and misogyny. They aren’t the same thing, obviously, but they are related, and “too sappy” is a negative thing that people say about women.
