Anonymous asked: I think it doesn't matter if you use "gay" as an expression of "oh, that's stupid" or something of the like. Plenty of people call each other nigga or nig or whatever without meaning it to be offensive, because it's a part of language. People shouldn't get upset about that either. It's like the integration of "retarded" as referring to something stupid in this language. No one is actually poking fun at the mentally deficient. It's not as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.
And that’s coming from a person who identifies as gay. I don’t take any offense because when people use it in that sense, THEY DON’T MEAN ANYTHING BY IT. Obviously if it’s used in a slanderous way, you’ve crossed a line. That’s like me calling a black person a nigger to be purposefully offensive rather than to just express something that we as a society say as a greeting or fondness, etc. Nigga as black slang is not going to disappear - and those who use it generally mean no harm at all.
Anon, are you trolling me right now?
Please tell me you are trolling me because… wow. No. No no no no no.
I’ve addressed your overall point before, and I stand by what I said a month ago.
If you click on that link, I’m sure you can see why I’m upset about this.

REALLY ANON? Do you have ANY idea how ableist that is? Probably not, because after reading this ask I’d be shocked if you knew what ableism is. I used this as an example of why you SHOULDN’T use “gay” as a synonym for “stupid,” and you’re like, “It’s not a big deal, guys!”
Do yourself a favor and Google this shit, because that is absolutely not okay. It has never been okay, and it will never be okay.

I really, really do not want to speak for people of color here, despite how riled up I am by these two sentences. I would love it if some POC followers would like to explain to Anon here why ze is wrong.
Here’s the thing, Anon. Intent is not magical. Just because someone doesn’t INTEND to be a huge fucking douchebag does not mean they are not, in fact, a huge fucking douchebag.
You are allowed to reclaim “gay” if you are gay, but that is not what people are doing when they use it as a synonym for “stupid”. White people do not get to reclaim the n-word. Able-minded people do not get to reclaim the r-word. You need to stop.
skfjsdjklghjksdf I can not believe this was in my ask box.
